Salter Aero GT4 Wing Support Installation

Although the installation is quite straight forward, professional installation is highly recommended. Salter Aero is not responsible for any damage to the product or your vehicle due to improper or poor installation.

*Use only isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth to clean or discoloration may occur. Do not use any detergents or harsh cleaning products (especially those used in touchless car washes). Immediately rinse thoroughly with clean water after every car wash.

If you re-install your wing using the steeper angle of attack setting, it is recommended to also remove the inserts from the front diffuser ducts to balance out the vehicle. See your Porsche manual for details.

Tools Required:
• 3/8" Socket Wrench with Torx T30 Socket
• Screw Driver with Torx T30 Bit (or another socket wrench)
• Torque Wrench (correctly calibrated)
• Loctite Blue 242
• Trim Removal Tool
• Heat Gun
• Masking Tape
• Isopropyl Alcohol
• Microfiber Cloth

1. Side Plastic Cover Removal
Open the rear trunk. Slide the trim removal tool under the side cover to disengage clips and carefully remove. Repeat for the other side.

2. Inner Side Cover Removal
Using a heat gun on the lowest setting, warm up the inner side cover to loosen the adhesive underneath. Keep the heat gun at a distance. Be careful not to over heat the surface. Keep the gun moving, do not stay in one spot.

Slide the trim removal tool under the inner side cover to dislodge the adhesive. Remove the cover to reveal 3 bolts. Do not remove the 3 bolts until the wing and wing support base cover have been removed. Clean up any remaining adhesive residue using isopropyl alcohol and a micro fiber cloth. Repeat for the other side.

3. Wing Removal
Have a helper hold the wing. Use a socket wrench with a Torx T30 socket, and a screwdriver with a Torx T30 bit to remove the wing hardware. The hardware consists of a T30 bolt, washer, and T30 end cap. The washer sits in between the wing support and the wing mount. Be careful not to drop the washer during removal. Do not lose any hardware, they will need to be reused. Remove wing and set aside.

4. Wing Support Base Cover Removal
Using a heat gun on the lowest setting, warm up the wing support base cover to loosen the adhesive underneath. Keep the heat gun at a distance. Be careful not to over heat the surface. Keep the gun moving, do not stay in one spot.

Mask the surface of the trunk to protect it from any damage. Use the trim removal tool to dislodge the adhesive underneath and gently pry off the cover using even force all around the edges. Remove the cover and clean off any left over adhesive residue using isopropyl alcohol and a micro fiber cloth. Repeat for the other side.

5. Remove the OEM Wing Support
Use a socket wrench and a Torx T30 socket to remove the 3 bolts on the side of the trunk. Carefully lift out the OEM wing support. Do not lose any hardware, they will need to be reused. Repeat for the other side.

6. Rubber Weather Seal Install
Remove the rubber weather seal from the OEM wing support and install it onto the Salter Aero wing support base. Make sure the seal sits snuggly along the lower ledge. Repeat for the other side.

7. Salter Aero Wing Support Install
Carefully insert the Salter Aero wing support into the trunk. Apply Loctite Blue 242 sparingly to all 3 bolt threads. Loosely install the 3 bolts into the base until threads engage. Do not tighten. The wing support should still be loose and be able to move around slightly.

8. Slide on the Salter Aero Wing Support Base Cover
Gently slide on the Salter Aero base cover. Do not remove the red backing from the mounting tape. The cover should be resting on the trunk, not yet stuck on.

Make sure you have the correct cover for each side of the trunk. The base covers are not interchangeable. The Salter Aero logo should appear on the rear outside of the base cover. Do not flip, rotate or interchange base covers.

9. Re-install the Wing
Have a helper hold the wing above the trunk. Install the wing by re-using the OEM hardware. Apply Loctite Blue 242 to bolt threads. The bolt attaches from the outsides of the wing support, the washer sits in between the wing support and the wing mount, and the end cap attaches from the inside.

If required, the wing mount on the under side of the wing is adjustable to increase or decrease width on both sides.

The rear hole on the wing mount has 2 settings. The higher bolt position is the default wing angle. The lower bolt position places the wing at a steeper angle of attack.

Using a torque wrench tighten all wing mount hardware to 8.1 Nm (6 ft lbs or 72 in lbs).

10. Tighten Wing Support Base Bolts
Using a torque wrench tighten the lower wing support bolts to 8.1 Nm (6 ft lbs or 72 in lbs). Do not over torque, as damage to threads may occur. Inspect that all hardware on the wing and on the wing support is tight and all components are secure. Optionally, re-install the plastic side inner and outer covers.

11. Adhere the Salter Aero Base Cover
Clean the surface of the trunk around the wing support to remove any wax, dust or oils using isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth. This will ensure proper adhesion. Remove the red backing from the bottom of the Salter Aero wing support base cover to expose the 3M mounting adhesive. Ensure proper alignment and press firmly onto the trunk. Repeat for the other side.

Congratulations! Your Porsche Cayman GT4 now looks and feels like a proper GT car.
